More than 20 years ago, Sense Ability Director and Senior Occupational Therapist, Coralie Clifford, saw a need in the community for the provision of a private paediatric service as an alternative to occupational therapy services provided by the state and federal governments. Having worked in both government and not for profit organisations, Coralie was very aware of the political and funding constraints placed on services, and had a vision to offer families another choice in a centre of occupational therapy excellence.
The Practice has grown from very humble beginnings as a sole trader on a Saturday morning from a home office, to what it is today; a team of Occupational Therapists working within a multi-disciplinary Practice. There are also other professional rooms. The Practice is a modern clinic with ample parking and a comfortable waiting room. It comprises an occupational therapy assessment/play room, as well as two small play gyms.
Continuing professional development is a key foundation of the Practice, with all clinicians involved in regular training, seminars and conferences relating to research based interventions and cutting edge theory. The Practice is also well supported by administration and reception staff who look after the needs of our clients. Sally Collins, Susan Lear and Lyndal Harris are always happy to advise clients regarding appointments, funding support and other related issues.
